Me too. We have an app that requires Windows 2003 SP1, and it is in a
virtual server. I wish Microsoft would provide a better projection that Q4.

I talked with Microsoft support today regarding another Virtual Server 2005
issue, and the technician I spoke with did not know when R2 will be released.

The additions in the hotfix are more up to date. Keep in mind that you
expressly prohibited by the R2 EULA from running it in production. The
hotfix additions will run on VS 2005 RTM which allows you to run in
production.

mouse pointer has gone off the rails and become unusable. Un-installing
and re-installing the additions has no effect.

Call again, and insist on talking to someone who knows what's going on.
Keep in mind that the hotfix is specifically for issues with RTM VS 2005
and Windows Server 2003 SP1 guests.

Yeah, I got a copy of the new additions two days ago from Microsoft Support
Services. They can't look at the article, they have to look at their
repository or whatever it is. v13.531 is what I got and it worked great.

I was able to get the new VM Additions by referring to KB 900076, but it took
2 days and speaking with no less than 7 (!) people before getting someone with
a clue. He was in the VS team and knew exactly what I needed.

As a rule I *always* tell the KB article I'm calling about, in my first
sentence on every support call. Unfortunately the first operator misdirected
my call and I got bounced around to several departments for more than an hour,
sitting in queues, on hold, and repeating my reason for calling repeatedly--
before hanging up in disgust.

Because my ticket was still hanging open, someone from MS called the following
day to ask if the issue had been resolved. After I bitterly complained, I got
patched thru to the right person, and 5 minutes later had what I needed.

So to anyone calling on that KB, ask SPECIFICALLY for the Virtual Server
team-- lest you get bounced around like I was.
