I'm able to create iso9660 cd images that work when the vm is running but
i'm unable to get a vm to boot from one (w2k3 installation cd for example).

I'm just using easycd to create the images. Any idea what setting/config i'm
missing?

Help much appreciated.

You have to link to the CDRom on your system from within VS
Administrator and create a new Virtual CDRpm. Create new, then check
the box that shows your onboard CDRom. I think it's the second box if
I remember correctly, but could be wrong.

By adding a new CD rom to the VM and redirecting that hardware to your image
folderby selecting "known image files", you should have no trouble booting
from an iso. That's how I have done a few servers, until I learned how to
use sysprep and such to duplicate my servers. Also as a side note, don't
forget to add that folder with your iso to your "search paths" page. Hope
this helps!

James, does your ISO image boot if you burn it to a real CD? If not, it
could be that you are creating CD image files that are not designed to boot.
Check for a make boot CD option when creating ISO files. Hope that helps.
