Hyper-V snapshot problem

Hi

I have taken a snapshot for a running Win2003 R2 virtual machine on Win2008
ENT Hyper-V server, but during a snapshot system returns an error 'failed to
take a snapshot' and crashed.
When I try to start a virtual server again, it returns an error saying that
there is a problem with existing .vhd disk and stopped. Looking for a vhd
files, I see that there is one .vhd file, that is a disk for this virtual
machine, but under Snapshot dir there are 5 .avhd files, assuming this are
snapshots for this virtual machine, but don't know why there are five of
them, because I have never created a snapshot for this virtual machine
earlier. So after doing some google, I came up with the solution to rename
the latest .avhd file to .vhd and attach it to virtual machine, and it boots
up OK.
But now, all the changes are saved into this new .vhd files, instead of a
'master' one, also I have four .avhd files, that are also used for this VM.
How can I convert this 6 files into one 'master' again?
It's strange, because in Hyper-V manager, there are no lists under snapshot
tree, also SCVMM says that there are no snapshots taken. Is there any kind
of a tool, that can join this avhd files to 'master' one?
Thank you all in advance,
Regards,Miha
