What is Hyper-V Server?

Is it a replacement for Virtual Server 2005 on Windows Server 2008?

What is the difference between guest operating system and client operating
system as stated on the Microsoft web site?

On a machine installed with just Hyper-V Server, what do I see? Do I see a
login screen? Does Hyper-V Server need a host OS like Virtual Server?

Microsoft's web site
(http://www.microsoft.com/hyper-v-server/en/us/deployment.aspx) says:
"Hyper-V Server 2008 can run on legacy systems and operating systems such as
Microsoft® Windows Server 2000,..." What does this mean? Does it mean
Server 2000 can be a host OS?

That same page also says: "it is a good solution for consolidating
information on a single stand-alone server of older hardware". Does the
older hardware still have to meet the specs given in
http://www.microsoft.com/hyper-v-server/en/us/system-requirements.aspx?

Is Hyper-V Server 2008 free or does it have to be purchased?

Thanks.
