LLTD Responder on Virtual PC breaks Network Map

Message:

I have a virtual machine with Windows XP SP3 that I want to appear on
the Network Map introduced with Window Vista so I installed the LLTD
Responder KB992120-v6 hotfix. Now, the Network Map refresh fails with
the error: An error happened during the mapping process. If I
uninstall the LLTD Responder from the virtual machine, the map works
again, including the showing the host machine, but of course, without
the virtual machine.

What gives? I find it very surprising that a single node in the map
could cause a failure to show any part of the map. But I would like to
see the virtual machine, too. I've seen mention that certain switches
are incompatible with the LLTD protocol. Might the networking in
VS2005R2SP1 be similarly incompatible and need a fix?

I'm running Virtual Server 2005 R2 SP1 on the host. Windows XP SP3 as
the guest, connected the external network. (This virtual network is
connected to the =93Marvell Yukon 88E8071 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet
Controller=94 physical network adapter. Virtual machines attached to
this virtual network can access the physical computer, the external
network and other virtual machines also attached to this virtual
network.)

My ultimate goal is to for multiple virtual machines on multiple
virtual servers show up on the map with the guests linked to their
hosts. I image a host is acting as a switch so I would see a link
between host and guest or host, "virtual switch" and guest=97or at the
very least the guest would show up as a sibling to its host.
