All VM"s missing after reboot

Can anyone tell me why all 3 of my VM's are no longer listed under Remote
View after adding them, running them and accessing them? They were all
visible and I could configure them as needed, then a reboot and they are gone
no longer listed after I login to the VS status page.

If I try to add them back from the search path it is valid and gives me the
error 'The virtual machine could not be added. The virtual machine
configuration could not be added. A configuration with this name already
exists.' This makes sence as this is where I originally added them at.

The system is Vista Ultimate with VS 2005R2.

Thanks, but in this case they are all local. As this is a Vista Ultimate
system and I am testing I am only using 1 drive. All VHD's are local, on the
C:\ drive and in the search path, hence the reason I cannot add them back in
since they ave already been added.

It is as if they are not being saved at shutdown and I have changed the
registry to give more time to save settings and shutdown the VM's as noted in
bulletin.

Anyone else??? More ideas?

That usually happens if Virtual Server can't get to the VM's files for
some reason, like the VHD being on a USB drive or a network drive that
wasn't available.

Making sure the resource is available and rebooting (or just stopping
and starting the Virtual Server services) should fix it.

Nope, Changed nothing. I removed the saved file where they were defined in
the Virtual Server folder so I could add them back again from the saved path,
have done this a couple of times and they are not shown in Remote View after
rebooting though the actual files are present in the VM's folders.

The reference I think is pointing to the wrong location. The correct
location being saved here (below) how do I edit the incorrect location?

I suspect this is a Vista Issue and how it handles files and folders, this
could be a big problem.

Robert, it was a pth problem.

I moved the main folder that I keep the VM's in and reestablished the path
to C:\My Virtual Machines for one to test the idea, added the Vm and
restarted and it was still there after the reboot.

So the VS does not like the VM's to be under a profile of even the admin
user, it wants the VM's to be somewhere else.

Hi, Didn't read all the dialogue in this post, but whenever I have had
missing VMs it is usually because the configuration files (I am a novice at
this stuff, so not sure what the name of the file is, and am reading this
post from a workstation without VS installed) were blank (file size "0"). If
this is the case, either replace with a back up, or erase it and reset the
server. Make copies just in case.
