P2V conversions with SCVMM

Message:

I have been testing System Center Virtual Machine Manager 2008 this week and
I've lost a lot of time over this so, now that I've figured out the issue, I
thought I would share the info:

When doing a P2V (physical to virtual) conversion, VMM asks for a user
account to access the source computer and there seems to be a bug that
affects user accounts with a "." in them. Maybe someone can confirm this,
just in case it is something odd in my environment.

I kept getting error 2910 - access denied. I found lots of posts online
discussing the error and all kinds of suggested solutions, none of which
worked for me. Eventually I changed the user account from one that was
"firstname.lastname" to one that was just "firstname" and it worked. Both
accounts were domain admins.

Hope this saves someone some time.
