Hi,

I'm wondering does hyper-V allow the guest to see all available cores on the
physical machine? I have an application which runs much faster (uses more
threads) when it notices that there is more than one core available.

On a side note, I was seeing some terribly poor performance from a pair of
ws2k8 server vm's - one SBS08 holding data, and ws2k8 server in apps sharing
mode running an application accessing that data.

I originally thought it was the disk layout, but after reconfiguring the
processors from 2 to 1 on both, the performance issue has gone away.

I don't understand it, but it is what it is.

It really depends on a lot of things. Both the OS and the app need to be
capable of utilizing multiple cores to get any advantage. (You would
certainly hope server 2008 was!)

It would certainly not be the first time that turning some "improvement"
off actually improved performance!
