Has anyone found a resolution to this issue? I've done searches here and on
the net, and while plenty of people are having this problem, there does not
seem to be a resolution.

I had a laptop (XP Pro SP2) on which I had installed VMRCplus 1.7, and was
able to connect to either of two of our servers that host some virtual
machines. Just got a new laptop, also with XP Pro SP2. Installedd the
latest VMRCplus (1.8), but when I try to connect to either of the servers, I
get the error:
Access is denied. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x8007005 (E_ACCESSDENIED))
I uninstalled 1.8 and installed 1.7, since that had worked on my previous
machine. Still get the same error.

Based on some other posts I've seen, I've been tweaking my IE security
settings, but still no go.

ANY help would be appreciated!

Immediately after that error, is this one:

Again, this all worked fine on my previous laptop. This new one is running
exactly the same version of Windows XP Pro (with Service Packs and updates),
and I'm running the same version of VMRCplus. The only difference I can see
is that my old laptop was named XYZ1, and the new laptop is named XYZ. I
tried deleting my user account from Virtual Server and re adding it, but
still no go.

What am I missing here?

Thanks for the reply Bo, but I'm current on all the .NET frameworks. I'm
running 2.0 SP2, 3.0 SP2 and 3.5 SP1. Just checked for updates, but nothing
is available.

..Net Framework 2.0 SP1 should be fine. But more often an Access Denied issue
is caused by Windows Firewall (or any other firewall) blocking return traffic
from the host. For most other access denied errors, the cause was really an
access issue.
There is no recipe for this issue as it may depend on many factors. On
XP/2003 there are hardly ever any issues, on Vista the new security
architecture requires some extra steps.
Anyway, people can check my blog for issues (blogs.technet.com/matthts) or
send me mail with any specifics.

Framework on my machine. I then did a clean install of 2.0 and still get the

Something else very strange. I can access the servers using the stock VMRC
client that comes with a Virtual Server installation (vmrc.exe). That works
fine, but still can't get VMRCplus to work, even after uninstalling all of my
..NET Framework installations, and reinstalling them one-by-one.

Looking this error code up, it says:
Explanation
A set of credentials was passed to the authentication system on this

displays NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM, and an NTStatus code is displayed. The

What does this mean by "The account does not exist"?

How can this be? I can log into the VS host machine by going directly to it
in IE via http://(virtual server host machine
name):1024/VirtualServer/VSWebApp.exe?view=1 and using my normal credentials,
and can also access it via the plain vanilla version of VMRC.

I must be missing something very obvious!
