Hello group,

Is it possible to install Virtual Machine Connection (vmconnect.exe)
on a Windows Server 2008 core installation? If so, how?

Copying the vmconnect.exe from a full install to a core install
results in:

vmconnect.exe - Application Error
The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000135). Click Ok
to terminate the application.

core server using domain credentials. The result is: Remote Desktop
Connection. No authority could be contacted for authentication. For
assistance, contact your system administrator or technical support. It
ony works if I authenticate using a local administrator on the core
server. I would rather not pass out this account information around,
so my alternative is to have the people RDP in and run Vmconnect from
the console.

True. Yet Vmconnect does not require Explorer nor the mmc console. I
have found a few mentions on blogs about running Vmconnect on Core,
yet no instructions on exactly how to set it up.

That is what I would expect. Even if it loaded, it would not work. Core
