Hyper-V: Very slow network (latency) on virtual Win XP clients?

Source: microsoft.public.virtualserver

Message:

Virtual Host: Windows 2008 x64 with Hyper-V RC1, 1x1gb/s NIC, 16 gb ram

Virtual Machine: Windows XP pro SP2 - 2 gb ram

I'm simply testing "ping -t -l 64000 <servername>" from a virtual client and
I get an average of 10 ms. From ordinary workstations (and the virtual host)
I get between 1 and 2 ms. I have also tried with legacy network drivers, but
they are even worse with 25ms.

Isn't it possible to get similar performance from a virtual Windows XP under
Hyper-V as from ordinary workstations?

Is this normal behaviour of all virtualization software or is it a known
Hyper-V "issue"?

Thanks in advance

Peter
