Determine host PC name from within Virtual Machine

Hi all,

Just a quick question - as subject really. Is there anyway to determine the
name, or some other identifier (UUID, serial number, something else) that
identifies the physical server to the virtual server?

Essentially we want to try and automate the configuration of properties such
as IP and hostname of the VM based on the host OS.

I've looked with a few tools (internal tools such as Device Manager and
others like CPU-Z) and they don't flag anything, but I don't know whether
it's missing because (a) the data doesn't exist or (b) they choose not to
show it.

Cheers,

Chris
