Guest OS in VS2005 cannot be shutdown normally

Hi,

I have a DC configured in VS2005 R2, I am however unable to shut it down
normally, I need to always turn it off, because of which I am unable to
install or uninstall anything in it, as it pops an error that some previous
installation has not yet finished.

Is there a way to shut it down normally, so that whatever installation is
hung due to the need for a proper reboot is completed?

I upgraded to VS2005 R2 SP1 + some new VS update but to no avail. I am also
unable to install the latest Virtual machine additions because of this
problem.
