portability and NIC and CPU dependencies

Hi,

We are currently evaluating Virtual Sever 2005. I have two general
questions: First, I read somewhere in the literature that you should try to
move/copy/migrate a guest os on to a host server that has the same kind of
processor as the original virtual host server. Is this true? I ask because I
can't be sure I would have one availible when a need to move a guest OS
occurs and I thought the whole point of virtualization was to remove any
physical hardware dependencies. Second, if I have a host server with a
physical NIC dedicated to each guest OS and then I need to migrate one of
these guest OS's to a new machine (virtual host server) what happens to the
virtual network configuration of the Guest OS. In my senario, my virtual
machines would be interacting with machines external to the host virtual
server, and again, I would dedicate one physical NIC to each Guest OS.

I thank you in advance for any guidance or help you may provide.

Sean Flynn
