Linked Virtual Hard Disk error

I am trying to create a Links Virtual Hard Disk and am receiving the error:
The following error occurred: The parameter is incorrect.. The idea is that
I will see this physical drive from the Host. I know that it is designed for
creating a VM from a physical HDD but that is besides the point. I have
removed the drive letter from the Host so that it does not see it (as per
something I read) but can;t see this helping at all. Does anyone have any
suggestions?

Virtual Server doesn't work like that, it can *only* create a VHD from
a linked disk, it can't actually attach a physical disk to a VM.
