Problem after updating MSVSR2 cluster to sp1

Hi!

I have updated a virtual server cluster with two nodes with sp1 one after
the other. After rebooting the two nodes I tried to bring my virtual
machines (script resources) online, with no success. The event log says:
"Web02" could not be restored because of a host processor type mismatch or
hardware assisted virtualization is required, but not available.

Any ideas?

You can't do an upgrade of Virtual Server with machines in a saved
state, they have to be shut down.

There's two things you can do, uninstall SP1, reinstall what you had
before, start the VM's and then shut them down, then upgrade again.
And two, delete the .vsv's (saved state files) for the affected VM's,
then start them as normal.

I upgraded 2 servers with SP1, one in 32-bit version other in 64-bit.
In the 32-bit i had the same problem than Armin, but in x64 i upgraded
with all machines in saved state with no problem.

The cluster cluster I had the problem with is running on two 64-bit Windows
Server 2003 R2 with the latest fixes, so I doubt that's a reason. I'm
afraight you were just lucky with your 32-bit machine ;-)

Hello there,

Im having the same issue, my config is two quad cores xeon, and they have (freshly) installed windows 2003 R2 x64 bit edition.. (they are exactly configured machines) and they are running on a clustered environment.

i've freshly installed virtual server 2005 R2 sp1 64 bit edition, and the virtual machines are windows 2003 standard 32 bit edition.

Th issue is when i try to move the resource group from one node to another shows the following error:

Exchange_server could not be restored because of a host processor type mismatch or hardware assisted virtualization is required

ive double checked everything, ive uninstalled virtual server 2005 r2 sp1 and installed the virtual server 2005 without the sp1 and it shows the same error.

i dont know what to do

any clues??
