I have Virtual Server 2005 R2 installed on a Windows Ultimate x64 machine. I
am trying to establish a network connection between the host and guest using
the loopback adapter but so far have not been able to. The loopback adpater
has been configured to use ip 192.168.100.1 on the host and 192.1680.100.2
on the guest (Windows Server 2003) but I can't get any connection between
the two.

This had been working with a Windows XP Pro host OS, but everything I've
tried so far hasn't worked. Any ideas out there?

Had a problem like that on earlier WS 2008 beta, I think adding a second
address on a physical adapter and using this against the VM solved it, can't
remember (the solution wasn't acceptable for me because of other issues so I
currently have no good solution, sorry)

Anyway, try adding 192.168.100.1 on your physical adapter and use this
adapter on the guest too.
