Multi homed VM

Source: microsoft.public.virtualserver
Sent: 06/06/2007

Message:

I am trying to get a lab environment setup.

2 multi homed servers
1 nic to main network and the other crossed over to the other one.

I create a W2K3R2 server in a VM. I attach it to the main network and the
lab network.

Once i do this, name resolution breaks down completely on the VM.

It doesnt matter if the server is running RRAS to route or not.

From a command prompt...
Ping Server1 returns no host found
nslookup Server1 returns all the appropriate information

If i remove the second adapter from the VM, then resolution begins working
Main Network... IP/Mask/default gateway/DNS Server address
Lab Network... IP/MASK

i can ping my name server, i can nslookup a website and ping by ip, but
pinging by name fails, even when nslookup works.

I have tried both a remote DNS server and a local DNS server. nslookup
against my own DNS server (on the VM i am trying to 'gethostbyname') returns
proper information.

But unless i remove the lab nic from the configuration, i cannot ping by name.
