Creating a test environment with virtualization

Message:

I would like to create a new domain full of VMs for testing Longhorn/Win2k3,
Exhchange 2k7, the new Office servers, System Operations Center Mangement
servers, and possibly ILM and Live Communications (is this still useful?)

Without scaling this into any type of production mode, what do I need for
hardware to get going? Is it absolutely necessary to use 64bit hardware for
Exchange and Groove or can VS 2005 somehow coax them into running on 32bit?
Does anything else demand 64bit? What real (non-virtualized) services must
I run (SQL & Sys Op VMM)? Can I assume that roughly 1GB (+/-) per VM will
suffice?

I'll only have a handful of accounts (handful = red sox roster). At most
there will be 3 or 4 real people playing with the domain and if possiblem, I
may use it as a pilot for a single group of another 5 or 6 and a demo for
selling the idea.

Thanks, bob
