SATA Physical CD/DVD drives

I find that Virtual Server 2005 R2 does not properly recognize a SATA
Physical CD/DVD drive. The symptom is "corrupt disk".

Does Virtual Server 2005 R2 support SATA Physical CD/DVD drives?

On the same machine, if I insall a USB CD/DVD physical drive, VS will work
fine with it.

OS'es tried: Windows Server 2003 and Windows XP Media Center 2005 on two
Dell XPS 410 machiens.

technician has no information that indicates that SATA Physical CD/DVD drives
are not supported. The technician however does not have a SATA Physical
CD/DVD drive machine in his lab (in India) to test this.

I also see similar posts in the Virtual Server public newsgroups dated
3/20/07 and 4/29/07. The user in that case has a Dell Dimension E520.

I suspect that Virtual Server lacks a SATA driver for physical CD/DVD
drives. If this is the case, shouldn't that be published as a limitation?

My machine has SATA drives and they all work fine including my HL-DT-ST
drive.

On your working SATA CD-ROM machines, do you happen to know your BIOS
settings for your SATA?

I have an option "Drives\SATA Operation" -- "RAID On" enabled.
The other choice is "RAID Autodetect / ATA" (which I don't have enabled).

I don't see how this affects my SATA CD-ROM's, but Microsoft PSP want's me
to change this setting, so I thought I'd check here first.

Also, what is your OS? Mine is Windows Server 2003 R2 Enterprise x64
Edition. Another dual boot is Windows Media Center (and that fails also).
