Proper handling of virtual servers on server with multiple NICs...

Hello,

I have our Win2k3 based Exchange member server that I am planning on setting
up a virtual server on for some testing, etc. Historically, Exchange (and a
few other backend apps) just don't like a dual homed systems, so even though
it has a couple of built-in NICs, I only have one enabled/plugged in. My
question is, if I assign the new virtual server to the unused NIC, plugging
it into the network, then joining the Virtual Server to the domain, will the
primary OS and it's services get mixed up? ...Can a NIC be physically
disabled on the primary OS, yet enabled and functioning on the Virtual
Server?

I've dug around for the answer to this, but just can't find any definitive
recommendations on the handling of multiple NICs inre to Virtual servers.
