Response Issue on Client

Message:

I am running 2 virtual machines on a host that has the following setup.

Dell PowerEdge 2850
Dual 2.8Ghz Zeon (Hyperthreading disabled)
4Gb Memory (/PAE switch enabled)
3 72Gb SCSI (Raid 5)

Virtual Machine 1
Windows 2000
1024Gb memory
2 SCSI drives
Running SQL server standard

Virtual Machine 1
Windows 2003
1024Gb memory
2 SCSI drives
Running SQL server standard

These are obviously not clustered instances.

The W2K machine runs a few SQL jobs that peg the processor at 100% for
several minutes when this happened the virtual machine stopping responding in
both the web client and in TS, I can ping the server but interaction with it
just does not happen. It's sometimes in this state for more than 30 seconds,
it's almost as if the machine in "SAVED" mode. Any ideas?
