Reclaim Hard Disk Space

I would like to reclaim space from my hard disk image, wwhich has grown
from around 5 gb to 9GB.

The Help file says that before using the Virtual Disk Assistance program
to release the unused space, you must "use a third-party product to
"zero out" or permanently remove this data from the virtual hard disk
image"

What program are they talking about?

Also, would this program zero out only the unused space or would it
completely erase the whole hard disk image?

3. shutdwn Windows and run the VDA on the Mac to compact.

If you configure the program correctly, it will only zero out unused
space. The program mentioned, Eraser, can also wipe your drive,
