The company I work for bought a new Mac, it is a MacPro OS X 10.4
(came with Intel Xeon procesor). I tried to install Virtual PC 7 but,
after rebooting the Mac during the installation process, it didn't ask
for the second disk in order to finish installation. I'm not certain
if this versi=F3n is compatible with this procesor.
Any idea of what can I do?

There are no versions of VPC for an Intel Mac and the versions for Power PC
Macs do not work under Rosetta on an Intel Mac.

You can run Windows natively in a partition on your MacBook Pro. however.
Apple provides a beta version of Boot Camp (v1.2 currently) which you can
download and use. You need a retail full edition of XP or Vista (upgrade
editions cannot work). The Boot Camp software includes an Assistant to help
you configure your MacBook Pro for dual booting OS/X and Windows and for
installing Windows. It also includes the Mac for Windows drivers that
Windows needs in order to use the MacBook Pro's hardware. Once installed,
Windows runs on a MacBook Pro exactly the same way it does on any other
laptop. No emulations are necessary.

I have been running XP Pro SP2 on my MacBook Pro for nearly a year now and I
can assure that there is no difference between Windows on an MBP and Windows
on a Dell or Gateway laptop. It is all the same.

you're MUCH better off using either BootCamp or Parallels Desktop than
Virtual PC anyway. Either of these will be much faster than Virtual PC,
and BootCamp is more compatible (especially with applications that need
a 3D graphics acceleration card).

I'd sell off Virtual PC on eBay and then either:

- download BootCamp from http://www.apple.com/bottcamp
(currently it is free, but may not be after the Developers'
Conference in mid-June). This requires you to reboot the Mac
to use Windows applications.

or - buy Parallels Desktop from http://www.parallels.com
This works in a similar way to Virtual PC by running
a pretend Windows computer inside a Mac OS X window.

Either way you'll also need to buy a version of Windows to go with
whichever you choose.

D'OH!!!! I must be too tired. Of course Virtual PC will NOT work on an
Intel Mac. Virtual PC is of course designed to emulate an Intel PC on a
PowerPC Mac, and Microsoft has killed the product off with no plans to
make an Intel Mac version. Sorry if that caused confusion. :o(
