I have put virtual PC 2007 on my pc
I am having trouble downloading vista onto the VPC
Does it mean that I cannot download the reinstallation DVD of vista that
came with my laptop and that I need a new licensed vista?

I really want to know is if I can not use the vista that came with the
laptop.

Highly unlikely... The copy of Windows which came with the laptop is almost
certainly an OEM version which has been modified slightly so that it will
install only on the manufacturer's equipment.

Since a virtual machine is made up of virtual emulated hardware, this will
be seen as invalid by the Windows installer.
