Playing MIDI in DOS

Currently I have the standard sound driver installed for DOS (VPC2007 SP1).
The player in win3.1 can play back any .wav files, but not .midi files. The
XP media player, on the other hand, can play back the same midi files. So I
think it's win3.1 driver issue.

I currently have setup as follows:
1) inside MIDI Mapper, I have General MIDI
2) I have MT32 for patch maps
3) I have Key Maps as +1 octave

Inside Drivers, I have the following:
Ad Lib
Creative Labs Sound Blaster 1.5
GSM 6.10 Audio CODEC
MIDI Mapper
Timer
Universial Draw Handler
[MCI] MIDI Sequencer
[MCI] Sound

Also, may I bring back my previous VGA questions here.
The problem was I couldn't use printmaster properly. The startup screen
looked skewed. I had tried many other settings (as well as UNIVBE) to no
avail.
Does anyone have any idea?
