I have a small network with a WinXP server. I would like to install an
updated application on one of our workstations virtually and would like to
virtualize the server as well. This will be just for a test to see if
everything works well. Is there an application that will allow me to do
this?

In other words I would like a virtual o/s on a workstation to access data on
a virtual o/s on our server.

That should work using the default network settings. By default the vm
uses the physical NIC in the host machine and, as far as the networking is
concerned, looks just like another machine on the network. If you run a DHCP
server on your LAN each vm should get its config from there.
