New Laptop and new install?

Hi guys and girls...
I have just purchased a new laptop, and I have install VPC. The question
is....
I had VPC installed on my old laptop with Win XP virtual machine running on
it.
I installed Win XP on the Virtual Machine because a programme I use didn't
like Vista.....Any way, Is there any way I can take the V machine XP files
off my old laptop and put them on my new laptop?.
I ask this because the software I have installed on the VM Win XP can not be
installed again as the serial key changes on each install and I can't afford
to buy the software twice.

Anyway, this is one of the benefits of the VirtualPC system!
It makes virtual machines highly portable. :-)

Just move the VHD file associated with the virtual machine from the
old to the new host. Then on the new host create a new virtual machine
using the same settings as before (basically telling the wizard you
are making an XP machine and set the RAM to the same value as before).
Then when time comes for the virtual disk, just browse to the moved
file now on the new host. That's all.

Now you can start the guest again in the new host.

You might even try moving also the VMC file from the old host and skip
the step of creating a new guest on the new host. It might work well
provided your host CPU does not differ too much from the old host CPU
(Intel versus AMD for instance).
After move in this case just doubleclick the VMC file and see if the
guest starts up properly.
