installed here fine too and until I get more memory I have vm set for
995mgs. I did find I had to reboot 7 to make them work.
Only problem I have is the sound is choppy but I am not really using it for
sound :) just to learn what the new OS is all about and put a few programs
on it
I Installed"
AVG Free 8.0 antivirus
Malwareybites
Office Pro 2003sp3
Irfanview free graphic program
Firefox
and so far it doesn't run bad at all
I will allocate a bit more memory to it once I get my additonal 1gig of
memory which should come tomorrow ups.

Message:I get the same thing, when asking on the tehnet forums seems others having
the same problems. Dragging and dropping or copying and pasting in and out
of the guest seems to create that folder with nothing inside it. Most have
said to network the host and guest and do it that way. I did and found that
to work better.

that is the problme and beside that windows 7 runs very slowly in virtual pc

slow it is so perhaps it's time for virtual PC 2009 or at least SP2:)

I am noticing more on my laptop that windows 7 is running much slower and
runs at almost 100%cpu. I am wondering when I add memory if this will
change but the host is running around 45% cpu running vista now.
On the desktop- Windows 7 as the guest runs about 50% cpu and the laptop
should do better since it is a duel core 2 processor when the desktop is an
amd dual processor. I do not understand why

Also, CPU power savings will drastically lower a VM's performance.
When the CPU is throttled back everything in a VM is affected.

I have Additions installed now..the correct Addtions for Windows 7 and that
machine is unbearably slow. It takes 5 minutes to boot and get the desktop
loaded. It has 768MB RAM assigned. My Vista Ultimate machine on VPC has the
same amount of RAM and it is fast booting and runs fast. Windows 7 is way,
way too slow. I read that this is because I don't have hardware
virtualization and for the beta that matters ...it doesn't for Vista.
Additions has nothing to do with the speed as far as I can see. Additions
mainly fixes the mouse problem so it moves between the host and virtual
machine seamlessly. I've used it without additions and the speed of the
machine is the same as with the additions...extremely sluggish. It could be
because I have Avira 9 beta on it...but I have Avira 9 beta on the Vista
machine also and it runs fine.

Do you have hardware virtualization? That is supposed to be the culprit if
you don't have it. You don't need it for Vista but for the beta you do.

It could be disabled in the BIOS by the manufacturer by default (Dell
does this), the CPU might not support it, the laptop MB might not

There's a lot of reasons why it's not working.
First thing to check is to see if it can be enabled in the system
BIOS. If it can, then you should see a performance boost in a Win7
VM.

ahhh, no it is disabled in the vm- it says the host doesn't have it. On the
desktop it has it. How come my laptop which is a much better machine
doesn't have it?
