Windows 2008 Standard Login 1st time

I installed 2008 standard, booted up, logged in with the Administrator and
blank password, set the new password.

Now when I hit the login screen, type the password, it displays several
messages like:

Applying computer settings...
Preparing your desktop...
Please wait for the group policy blah blah
Please wait for the (something else)
Logging off...

and then it restarts the virtual server. I can't seem to make it past the
login.

Thanks for any ideas.
