Message:If you're running the VM full screen, you wont be able to see it, hit
<Host>-<Enter> (<Right Alt> defaults to <Right Alt> if you haven't
changed it)
You should then be able to see the menu bar.

Any suggestions as to how to get the menu bar to display?

Well that's weird. Try pressing Right Alt + I in windowed mode. That is
the keyboard shortcut to install the VM additions.

Actually Right Alt + I works in full screen mode also. I just tried it.

Thanks, Bob. Right Alt-I worked just fine. VM Machine Additions installed
like a charm. No clue as to why I cannot access the menus but for now, I'm
almost finished configuring my VPC. The only pressing task remaining is to
get it to print.
I read somewhere that I need to set up the USB printer as a shared printer
and print over the network. I think I need to overcome some permissions
issue and hopefully I will be at end of job soon.
I will try to get that done and if I need help I will post a new item with
an appropriate subject line, as I do not believe that the printer setup has
anything to do with the VM Machine Additions.

AHA! Look in your Display Settings for the VM and see if "Hide VM menu
bar" is checked! You will have to shut down the VM in order to change this
setting.
Yeah, I think sharing a USB printer works.

Bob:
It sure does - nicely. I have a networked USB laser printer attached to
my 'print server' computer that is shared with my whole LAN. The VM
attaches just fine and prints from inside the VM. Your VM will query
the printer and receive the necessary drivers to communicate over the
LAN to the printer. From there on, you set to go.

You have no idea how annoyed I have been for years about not being able to
register wpla as my domain name because of that radio station! It beat me
to the name!!! Grrrr :(

Eureka! There it was - obvious a wart on the nose! The "Hide VM menu bar"
was indeed checked!

Yeah, I knew I read here that it worked. I have just never done it myself.
I have a network laser (HP LaserJet 4+) that uses TCP/IP. Its just another
address on the LAN, and every machine in the house can print to it - real or
VM.

I was thinking maybe you were connected to the station and so were in the
same geographic area as me. Is wpla your initials or company name or
something?
Anyways, glad to hear your got your menu working. I *knew* I saw an option
for that somewhere, but I kept looking everywhere except the Display
Settings. I was looking under Options, Properties, etc.

My name is Wilfred Plá... so wpla clearly works for me as part of my email
address and it would have been a perfect domain name.
