Is the printer definitely switched on?
Does the printer have paper in the default tray?
Are there any messages on the printer's console?
Is there anything in the Event log of the host or the guest?
What happens if you try to print a test page from the guest?
What happens if you try to print a test page from the host?

Hmm...
The fact that the guest is able to add a job onto the host printer's print
queue would indicate that there's probably nothing wrong with the networking
side of things.
If you access the printer's print queue from the host, are you able to kick
the job off manually...?
What happens if you try to print a document with more than one page...?
