I am trying to preserve my entertaining military simulators of yesteryear,
and I just succeeded using Virtual PC 97 and a Windows 95 CD and installation
program to navigate the labyrinth of DOS and Windows 95 Setup commands to
appear to have a working copy of Windows 95 with a few network error messages.

Unfortunately, despite the sound card emulation, the Windows 95 program does
not seem to recognize my XP Pro-era USB joystick that is plugged into one of
my many USB ports. Because Windows 95 would lack drivers for my current
joystick, is there a workaround or must I attempt to use my old joystick and
plug it into an existing joystick port? (Unfortunately, it intercepts
keyboard commands, which would not be compatible with my USB keyboard.)

virtualization product such as VMWare Player, which handles USB device
transfer into the guests.
