Can virtualpc help with compatibility - run XP only compliant software on the VPC

Hi,
My company is subsidiary of a big international group. We look after a few
expats that for the "Representative Office" of HQ in Europe. So in other
words, our guests own us. I have a (in fact THE) new big wig joining our
company very soon. He will no doubt require access to the coporate Notes
system and this is achieved using eToken (USB secuirty token) and a Cisco
VPN client. Although a Vista compatible Cisco client exists I am told by my
counterpart at HQ that they "can't" get it, or whatever, but basically he
isn't going to help. And the same goes for the eToken. Fannnnnnntasic!!!

I was wondering if I was to install XP Virtual PC on his Vista laptop and
install the Notes and Cisco clients, and eToken software in the Virtual PC.
I am imagining he could then run these apps in the virtual machine when he
needs to to get around the fact that they don't run on Vista.

What I must make clear is that these machines will engage in a locked VPN
session (only network access to the remote site is possible, no internat or
LAN access). Does this have an impact? So far as I know they will only
need to read Notes emails, print them, and perhaps save attachments to the
local files system. The last one is the one I think might be a pain.

I am running out of time here. I am on leave for two weeks as of Wednesday
and this bloke arrives on that day. I also have to finish going through
backup solution specs so that I can place an order before I leave. I would
read about all this if I could, but as I said, I don't hvae time. Please
can someone give me a quick answer. Otherwise I might hvae to downgrade all
these machine to XP till I can find a solution, which could be as far away
as 18 months if I was to wait for HQ to get with the times. This is the
only issue holding my entire network up from upgrading.

TIA,

Jarryd
