You can only use the shared folders feature for *small* amounts of
data and sharing only a very shallow folder tree. If you go above a
certain limit (don't know the numbers) you will get all kinds of
corruption and lockups anyway.
Go for normal windows folder sharing over the network instead. It is
much more robust and reliable.

I had the same problem and managed to fix it. Here's what worked for me:

Go into the settings for your VM, and under Hardware Virtualization, uncheck "Enable hardware-assisted virtualization". Reboot the VM.

With hardware-assist enabled, my VMs took a massive performance hit in addition to the weird display issue. Now that hardware-assist has been disabled, the display is fixed, and my VMs are nice and responsive again.

I was able to fix the color problem by simply uninstalling the display
driver from control panel, and then rebooting.

Display Properties > Setting Tab > Click Advanced > Click the Drivers Tab >
Then Click to Uninstall

It will ask to reboot... That's what worked for me.

I had the same problem.....I was running XP as the guest, but it was SP1.
After I installed SP3 the problem went away.
