VPC 2007SP1 locks XPhomeSource: microsoft.public.virtualpc Sent: 05/30/2008 From: "DPM" <(email address - cut out)> Message:I know, I know - "this is not supported".... :-)
Still, VPC 2007 would install on XPhome, and run quite happily. But SP1
seems to lock the host OS during installation.
Is this peculiar to me, or have others seen it also?
Thanks,
Dean

XP Home SP3 in virtual machines without issues. I have done the upgrade to
SP3 via WU as well as installing fresh with an integrated XP Home SP3 cd so
I think you are seeing a local machine issue.

But SP1 seems to lock the host OS during installation." I am saying I don't
see any of what he is seeing with any combination, host or guest, involving
XP Home, with any service pack levels on XP Home or Vista.

To clarify, the host is Home, SP2, fully patched. What I meant was "VPC
2007 will install on Home SP2, but VPC 2007 SP1 will not". The installation
gets to the point of "Installing network..." and then hard crashes - and I
mean *HARD*: no mouse, no CTRL-ALT-DEL, nothing but powerdown will clear it.
Hardware: Asus M2V-MX motherboard, Athlon 64, 2gb RAM.
Thanks,
Dean
