Message:Following is the link where I found the solution:
http://www.aspdeveloper.net/Virtual_PC/rn-739-45715_Strange_Virtual_PC_2007_behavior.aspx
Same details are copied here:
Take a look at the file:
C:\Documents and Settings\__Name_Of_Your_Windows_Account__\Application
Data\Microsoft\Virtual PC\Options.xml
and make sure that the values for the <console> section are reasonable. For
example:
<console>
<height type="integer">575</height>
<left_position type="integer">0</left_position>
<top_position type="integer">0</top_position>
<visible type="boolean">true</visible>
<width type="integer">359</width>
</console>
** Don't forget to backup this file first if you want to edit it. **

Message:here is a workarround to fix it
right-click on the VPC icon in the notification bar > select show console
the app appears in the taskbar now (do not click on it)
pull up the task manager and you can see the VPC icon under applications tab
