I have been using XP on VPC 2007 since it came with my Vista Ultimate
(64-bit), and it shows unacceptable incompatibility with my MS Wireless
Laser Keyboard 5000 and Mouse combo, particularly with mouse's wheel (many
turns to get a jumpy scrolling). I tried VMware Workstation 6 and found it
much more Windows-friendly that VPC 2007 itself: mouse behaves great and the
speed of the guest system is much faster.

Personally there is no contest between VPC 2007 and VMWare. VMware will win
out every time. I've used both, but keep going back to VMware. The
Workstation edition (version 6.0) has USB support which, sadly VPC 2007
doesn't. I currently have issues with my USB printer and a 'few' application
that run better on XP than Vista. By installing VMware workstation 6.0 I
have been able to use the application that Vista doesn't like and also use
my USB printer.

The only problem I have under VPC 2007 is with the MS Wireless Laser Mouse's
wheel. I had not experienced wheel problems when I used my previous mouse, a
MS Laser 6000 wired. Seems a small problem, but for me it's a big one: I
need to check terms used above and below in (often big) texts. Pretty
unproductive if you have mouse wheel problems.

I guess there's something related to the new MS keyboard/mouse combos that
is not being correctly addressed by the latest Intellipoint version (6.1),
since even the wheel behavior in the host (Vista Ultimate 64-bit) is not as
smooth as it was with the previous mouse, and I confirmed that when I
executed Google Earth: formerly I could zoom in and out using the wheel of
my 6000, but I can only zoom in with Wireless Laser 5000. Perhaps VPC 2007
is just amplifying a behavior that is not OK...

Hi,

I too am getting the problem EdricBF described. The scroll wheel on my
wireless Laser 6000 mouse (that came with the Wireless Laser Desktop 6000
v2.0) does not work under VPC 2007. My host is Vista Ultimate (64-bit) just
like EdricBF, and my guest OS is Windows XP Pro. My Intellipoint version (on
the host Vista OS) is also 6.1 downloaded from Microsoft website yesterday.
The problem is, the windows inside VPC 2007 only scrolls a little bit after
many turns of the scroll wheel on the mouse. My previous Logitech wireless
mouse worked without any problems.
